All of our discussion of logos in class over these past few weeks has caused me to think a lot about some of my favorite logos. This week, I want to share the one that is perhaps my favorite of all time: the Hartford Whalers’. The Hartford Whalers were a professional ice hockey team in the NHL. Their logo design is as efficient and creative as it could possibly be; the “W” for Whalers is situated at the bottom, and the whale’s tale that sits atop the “W” actually forms an “H” for Hartford in the negative space. It’s truly a shame that the Whalers no longer exist — what a satisfying logo to plaster on a jersey.
