The Art of Botox

Aided by the growing significance and ubiquity of social and other digital media in our lives, it feels that one’s appearance is increasingly ruthlessly compared, commented on, picked apart, and otherwise judged nowadays. In light of our newly completed PSAs, which seek to address societal issues, I would venture to say that ageism and increasingly superficial standards are also societal issues and are increasingly problematic among younger generations. This New York Times article offers a well-substantiated, critical commentary on the artistic value of Botox, the blurred lines between what is real and is ‘plastic’, and ultimately the troubling societal standards that place youth and flawlessness on a pedestal.
